The inspiration for the design of Vanke Cloud City is deeply rooted in its location. The Liuxiandong headquarters base is a major force propelling Shenzhen's technology industry. It is one of six bases in Shenzhen driving the development of strategic emerging industries. As such, the base is home to clusters of emerging industries and serves as a platform for industrial transformation and upgrading.
Vanke Cloud City's unique design features are its city-scale lighting and layered design. The lighting design emphasizes the business type of each building and expresses its architectural characteristics accordingly. The designers highlighted the super high-rise building and created a layered design with a core building enclosed by other parts. This design language stands out the skyline and four corners of Cloud City, reflecting the overall logic at a macro level of visual effects.
The realization of this design was achieved through the use of LED lamps, which account for over 97% of the building's lighting. An intelligent control system is applied to control the light by time and mode, such as weekday mode and late night mode. This approach not only enhances the visual appeal of the building but also contributes to energy saving.
The project covers an area of 394,000 square meters, with a construction area of 1,335,500 square meters. The total height of super high-rise buildings is 280.8 meters. The project is one of 6 plots in Liuxiandong headquarters base and is the biggest urban mix-used project of Vanke in China’s first-tier cities to date.
The design of Vanke Cloud City also takes into account the environmental impact. The lights of the entire project are turned off at 10pm, except for the functional lights, during the main months of bird migration and the time from midnight to early morning. This measure is taken to accommodate the more than 180 types of migratory birds that pass by the Liuxiandong area every year.
The design and completion of Vanke Cloud City were challenging due to its large area, various types of buildings, long construction period of 5 years, and over 20 design parties. However, the designers were able to overcome these challenges through effective communication, close supervision of the construction process, and timely problem-solving.
Vanke Cloud City serves as a major force to propel Shenzhen’s technology and is one of the six headquarter bases in Shenzhen for driving the development of strategic emerging industries and economy. It is home to clusters of emerging industries and is positioned as a new carrier of the city’s economic development and a new platform for industrial transformation and upgrading.
The design of Vanke Cloud City has been recognized with the Golden A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
